What is UPLIFT?
Uplift is one of Debbi’s favourite initiatives! It is a very simple but meaningful gesture from one friend to another.
If your friend is having difficulty with a practical problem or one who wishes to do something but, for various reasons, is unable to do it without help… that’s when Uplift comes in!
It could be an elderly person who wishes they could put their feet in the sea once again, or an ill person who is unable to cut his or her toenails, or it could be someone who wants to provide their friend or family member with a haircut before a big function and the friend can’t afford to do it. It could be a person, like the last one I did, who cannot get down from her porch to the driveway because the drop is too big and she’s elderly and afraid to step down without a handrail. One was built for her as a surprise.
How UPLIFT Works
This works as a surprise for the recipient.
To nominate someone, complete the form below and explain the exact reason why you are putting forward that person, as well as what you think would be an appropriate event or gift.
Please do not inform the recipient. The intention is for you to experience the joy and surprise when they realise what is happening and that it was made possible by you.
What UPLIFT Is Not
To ensure that UPLIFT remains focused on meaningful impact and genuine care, it is important to understand what the initiative is not.
UPLIFT is not:
- This is not a financial donation.
- This is not an ongoing experience
- It is not for people who are having a difficult life. It needs to be an urgent or current problem.
- It is not a medical, grocery, or transport contribution.
- I will not be driving anyone to an event for safety reasons.
- I will not be liable for anything that should unexpectedly occur. The friend takes responsibility for the safety of the person. I provide the ‘gift’.
Important points to remember:
Debbi’s decision is final as to whom she chooses to gift. This decision is based on a few criteria, and therefore no follow-up requests regarding the decision will be entertained.
So let’s have fun and surprise your friend! Three people get the gift! You, your friend, and me! It is such a joy to give to someone who really is surprised and needs something special!
