UPLIFT

An initiative by Debbi Rozowsky focusing on bringing a bit of joy to those who are struggling practically or emotionally at the time.

It is not for people who have had a hard life. It is for people who are experiencing something traumatic, distressing, or who feel stuck in their lives at the time someone sends through the nomination.

What is UPLIFT?

UPLIFT is a compassionate initiative created to bring a joyful experience or something that they may need practically to individuals and families facing genuine hardship. Many people silently carry the weight of trauma, illness, grief, emotional struggles, overwhelming circumstances, or difficult life transitions without the support they need. UPLIFT exists to identify those individuals and, where possible, facilitate a practical, supportive gesture that can make a meaningful difference in their lives.

Through practical assistance, community support, and sponsor partnerships, UPLIFT seeks to remind people that they are seen, valued, and not alone.

Why UPLIFT Exists

Life can change in a moment. Illness, trauma, emotional pain, loss, financial strain caused by unexpected circumstances, or the simple burden of carrying too much alone can leave people feeling hopeless and overwhelmed.

While counselling and emotional support remain central to Debbi’s work, there are moments where practical acts of kindness and community support can become part of the healing process. Sometimes restoring hope is not only about conversation. It is about helping someone regain dignity, comfort, encouragement, or relief during an incredibly difficult time.

UPLIFT exists to bridge the gap between emotional support and practical care by facilitating meaningful acts of compassion through people and sponsors willing to help.

How UPLIFT Works

1. Someone submits a nomination for an individual or family facing genuine current hardship.

2. Debbi personally reviews each nomination and carefully considers the circumstances shared.

3. Where appropriate, Debbi may facilitate support through sponsor partnerships, community assistance, services, practical help, or acts of kindness.

4. If a nomination is selected, support will be tailored to the specific situation and available resources.

UPLIFT is designed to create meaningful impact through thoughtful, compassionate, and practical intervention where it can genuinely help.

Who Should Be Nominated?

UPLIFT is intended for individuals or families facing genuine emotional, physical, or situational hardship where assistance and a joyful experience could make a meaningful difference.

This may include:

  • Individuals experiencing trauma, grief, or emotional hardship.
  • People living with serious illness or medical challenges.
  • Families navigating overwhelming life circumstances.
  • Individuals who are emotionally isolated or carrying significant burdens.
  • People facing difficult times need compassion and practical support to restore hope.

Nominations should focus on authentic need and genuine circumstances where meaningful support could positively impact someone’s wellbeing or quality of life.

What UPLIFT Is Not

To ensure that UPLIFT remains focused on meaningful impact and genuine care, it is important to understand what the initiative is not.

UPLIFT is not:
• A general financial assistance programme
• A source of ongoing financial support
• Debt relief, business funding, or personal fundraising
• A guaranteed support or entitlement programme
• A platform for requesting luxury, non-essential, or exploitative assistance
• Complimentary counselling sessions

The heart of UPLIFT is a boost for people facing genuine hardship — not financial aid.

Nomination Guidelines

Before submitting a nomination, please ensure:
• The situation shared is genuine and truthful.
• Sufficient detail is provided for context and understanding.
• The nomination explains why support could create a meaningful impact.
• The individual being nominated would genuinely benefit from emotional, practical, or dignity-restoring support.

Thoughtful and detailed nominations help Debbi better understand the situation and assess where UPLIFT may be able to assist.
